Identify your equipment and Connection Type

Our customers have one of two different sets of equipment. (Subscriber Module Connection or Modem Connection). You will need to determine which kind of connection you have, and identify the associated equipment, as some instructions are specific to particular connection types.

a) Router (All connection types):

Your router will be a small box, with several ports in the back for network connections, and usually (but not always) two or more antennas, similar to these:

You will want to identify the ports in the back of the router. Pay particular attention to the cable in the “Internet Port” (Sometimes labelled “WAN”). Your router will not function properly if this cable moved to any of the Local network ports. For this reason we recommend you take a picture of your router connections, and label the cable in the Internet port, before unplugging any cords.

b) Modem (Modem Customers only)

If you have a second box near your Router that looks similar to the one below, you are a Modem Customer and will want to follow the Instructions for Modem customers. The box will look similar to the pictures below:

You will also have a small silver box, with two round Coax cables and one power cable connected to it, similar to the one below. This box sends power to a radio attached to the antenna. It MUST have power for your connection to function.

The cable connected to “Transceiver” goes outside to a radio on your roof, and the cable connected to “Modem” connects to your modem which you identified above.

C) Power Injector (Subscriber Module Customers Only)

The power injector is connected to the “Internet” Port of the router, either directly or via a short cable. It has a second cable connected to it which goes to your roof, where the subscriber module is located. The Power Injector sends power to the Subscriber Module, while allowing data to pass through. There are two different types of Power Injector, as pictured below:

Old Style:

The short, flat cable needs to be plugged into the “Internet” or “Wan” port of the router. A second cord, leading to the radio on the roof, will be plugged into the small box at the end of the flat cable.

New Style:

The new style has 2 network ports, which MUST be connected as labelled in the picture. Incorrect connections may cause damage to your Router.
